This half day training course is to be delivered virtually through ‘Go-To-Meeting’ by Roger Bowen IRRV and is designed for both new and experienced Housing Benefit officers in order to understand overpayments and specifically to classify overpayments correctly to obtain the right subsidy

Attendees will gain an understanding in the following aspects of overpayments, their classification and recovery :-

• Causes of overpayments
• Use of suspension of Housing Benefit
• Importance of classing overpayments correctly..
• Overpayment classification
• Importance of Underlying Entitlement.
• Decision notices
• Recoverable or non-recoverable
• Recovery of overpayments

 It will be an interactive day with an opportunity to ask questions throughout. During the course, attendees will be put in to break-out rooms to discuss various examples and questions.

The course starts at 9.30am and finishes approx 12.30pm.
Numbers will be limited to 20.

Programme Changes And Cancellation / Rescheduling Of Events

The Institute will make every effort to give delegates as much notice as possible of any programme changes or the cancellation / re-scheduling of an event. However, it does reserve the right to make changes to advertised programmes and to cancel / re-schedule events. In the unlikely event of an event being cancelled / re-scheduled, either a full refund will be made or alternatively, any fee paid will be credited against a future booking. The Institute will not be liable for any travel and / or accommodation costs incurred by the attendee should an event be cancelled / re-scheduled.

VAT And Cancellations

VAT will be applied at the current rate. Cancellations two weeks before course date will be charged at 50%. Cancellations after this date will be charged at 100%. A substitute attendee is allowed at any time at no extra cost.
